Who are we?

We’re a small business. We’re privately and locally owned in Rockaway Beach, NY. We’re a community- a hair family.

Why do I need to provide my cc info to book an appointment? 

We’re glad you asked! While many of our guests are deeply respectful of our time, it is unfortunate that there are some who do not respect the appointment process. At Rock Rock Hair, we are deeply fortunate to serve many guests, some of which wait several weeks for an appointment. We kindly ask for your up-to-date credit card information to ensure your scheduled booking and in order to protect the valuable time of our team. For more information, please refer to our cancellation policy.

What happens if I don’t love my hair?

At RRH we understand that sometimes small adjustments here and there may be needed to reach your hair goal. That’s why we’re always here to go above and beyond so that you love the result of your hair. As a small business, we want to hear from you and genuinely want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to make things right.

If ever you do not fully love your hair, don’t hesitate, and don’t second guess- reach out to us directly. We kindly ask that you please reach out to us within 2 weeks of your original service so that we can do everything we can to have you feeling and looking like your best self.

What are you doing to care for the environment?

Caring for the environment is our priority, and we are proud of all we have already done in our initiative to go Green. We continuously seek new opportunities to improve our environmental practices to impact a healthier planet. Here is a little about what we have done already:

• We’ve gone paperless by using digital signs, forms, and receipts;

• We’re reducing disposable products/items by instead emphasizing the use of refillable products/items.

• We’ve chosen in-salon retail and color lines that are cruelty-free, vegan, made with recycled packaging, and with little to no anomia;

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, and gift cards, as well as Venmo and Zelle. All of our locations are cashless. 

What’s the difference between a full head and a half head of highlights?

We get it- understanding the difference between a half and full head of highlights can be confusing when you’re not a stylist. If this is your first time getting highlights or it’s been a long time since your last appointment, we generally recommend booking a full head instead of a half. That’s because the full head means you’ll have highlights throughout your entire hair- the top, the sides, and the back! If you’re needing a half head of highlights, keep in mind that your stylist will be focusing on the top and sides of your hair and that the back section will be untouched. Remember, when in doubt, give us a call or book a consultation!

Why is a curly cut more than a regular cut?

A Curly cut requires a few more steps to the process compared to a regular cut. Book the curly if you regularly wear your hair curly. Please come with clean hair that has not been in a ponytail or in a bun. If you are in doubt please fill out the intake form for further assistance!

Why does my hair color require so much time? 

When it comes to your hair, our intensively trained stylists never rush and never compromise the integrity of your hair. Although we tend to think of ourselves as hair magicians, creating modern styles typically takes multiple hours and/or multiple sessions. Please keep in mind that our set timing typically reflects the amount of time that your stylist will need in order to achieve your desired look. Our most sought after color services typically take anywhere from 2.5-5 hours and can vary depending on your hair length, density and overall goals. If you’re concerned about timing or would like to learn more, don’t hesitate to contact our team or book a consultation.

Why should I invest in good hair products?

Great hair continues being great outside of the salon with the right haircare. The same way you invest in your hair services, you should also invest in the products that you use. Please ask us what is best for you!

What’s a Brazilian blowout?

Chemically minimal, 100% formaldehyde free, and suitable for use on all hair types and textures. This treatment smoothes, relaxes, and defrizzes the hair resulting in maximum shine, increased manageability, and overall health. With the proper use of sulfate-free at-home products, your curl, frizz, and natural texture will slowly return to normal over 2-3 months. We recommend waiting 2 weeks between your Brazilian Blowout treatment and any color services.

What age is considered a kid’s cut?

A kids cut is for any child under 5.
